Learning Activities 

1. Research the types of fitness tests commonly used for a group, identify performance metrics and benchmarks specific to an assigned group and discuss the role of fitness testing in optimising training programs and enhancing athletic performance for their group. Present your findings by highlighting the unique considerations and outcomes of fitness testing for the population group.

 

2. Conduct research and discuss the for and against for one of the following topics:

  • Physical fitness testing is only important for elite athletes.
  • Fitness testing has no place in the school system. Ever. 
  • The outcomes of physical fitness testing should be considered when developing training programs.
  • The main purpose of physical fitness testing should be for team selections.

 

3. Choose one skill related component of fitness and need to explain when it is used during a game. Reflect by answering the following questions:

  • How does your skill help a coach identify the specific fitness requirements of particular sports?
  • How does this component of fitness relate to training?
  • How do the required fitness components improve movement efficiency for this sport?
