Learning Activities
1. Divide the class into three groups:
- Group 1: Sleep
- Group 2: Nutrition
- Group 3: Hydration
Each group answers:
- How does this reduce fatigue?
- How does it support injury prevention?
- What are the recommended guidelines?
Groups report back, and the teacher records points under the three headings on the board.
2. Provide a sample athlete monitoring report:
- Sleep tracking (hours, quality)
- Nutrition log (protein/carbohydrates)
- Hydration status (urine colour chart, weight change)
Students interpret the data and answer:
- Is this athlete at risk of fatigue or injury?
- What changes to routine or planning are needed?
- How could monitoring be improved?
Discussion: How do professional teams monitor recovery? (e.g. wearables, dietitian logs)
