Learning Activities

 

1. ‘Digital Health’ activity. Divide the class into groups and assign each group one of the following areas of digital health technology:

  • Electronic Health Records (EHR): How digital records are used to store, manage and share patient health information.
  • Telemedicine/Telehealth: Remote consultations and health monitoring, especially in rural or underserved areas.
  • Health Apps & Wearables: Fitness trackers, mental health apps, medication management apps.
  • Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: How AI is used for diagnostics, personalised treatment plans and predictive health analytics.
  • Health Information Exchanges (HIE): Platforms that allow different healthcare providers to securely share patient data.

 

Each group needs to research their assigned technology to:

  • Explain what the technology is and how it functions.
  • Provide real-world examples or applications of the technology (e.g. a specific telehealth platform or the use of EHRs in hospitals).
  • Discuss the benefits of this technology for healthcare providers and patients.
