- Positive ageing – Theresa’s story – 3 minutes
- Positive ageing – Val’s story – 3 minutes
Students discuss the following questions with a partner and complete the following:
- What stood out to you in each of the stories?
- How did Heather, Theresa and Val approach ageing in a positive way?
- What factors do you think contributed to their positive ageing experience? (For example: lifestyle choices, social connections, mental outlook, physical activity)

This can help students get to know the residents on a personal level. Share common interests; Have both groups share their favourite hobbies or activities and look for any shared interests (e.g. favorite movies, books, or pastimes).
Ask the following questions of a resident whilst participating in a cognitive activity like cards, a board game or craft:
- What are the most common misconceptions about ageing?
- What does ‘quality of life’ mean to you?
- What are some tips for improving mental and physical health in later years?
