2. Choose two contrasting sports, such as
- Endurance sport (e.g. marathon running, triathlon, cycling)
- Power/strength sport (e.g. weightlifting, sprinting)
- Team sport (e.g. netball, rugby, soccer)
- Aesthetic sport (e.g. gymnastics, diving)
Research and compare the dietary requirements of these two sports.
3. Imagine you are a performance nutritionist for an elite training centre. An athlete in each of your chosen sports has a key competition approaching. Create a brief nutrition plan (dot-pointed or timeline) for the athlete to use for the day of the event which includes:
- Pre-event meal/snack
- During competition (if needed)
- Post-performance recovery
- Hydration
