1. ‘Healthcare Policy Makers Round Table/Socratic Seminar activity. Assign each student a role as a:
- Government official (e.g. Minister of Health, Finance Minister)
- Private healthcare provider (e.g. hospital CEO, private insurance company representative)
- Public health advocate (e.g. doctor or nurse from the public sector)
- Citizen (e.g. low-income family, senior citizen)
Present a scenario where the government is considering privatising a significant portion of the healthcare system (e.g. moving from public to private hospitals or introducing mandatory private health insurance).
Have students discuss the pros and cons of privatisation from their role’s perspective. Encourage them to consider:
