2. ‘Health Apps Investigation’ activity. Start by discussing the growing popularity of health-related apps, including apps for fitness, nutrition, mental health, medication management and chronic disease management. Have students choose one health app (e.g. MyFitnessPal, Calm, Headspace, or diabetes management apps). They should research the following aspects of the app:
- What health issue or behavior does the app address
- (e.g. weight loss, mindfulness, sleep improvement)?
- How does the app function (e.g. data tracking, reminders, resources)?
- What are the benefits of using the app (e.g. convenience, tracking progress)?
- Are there any limitations or concerns (e.g. privacy issues, reliance on the app, data accuracy)?
- Have students evaluate the app by answering the following questions:
- Is the app effective in helping users achieve their health goals?
- How user-friendly is the app? Is it accessible for people of different ages and technological abilities?
- How does the app integrate into healthcare management (if applicable)?
