Learning Activities
1. Organise an in-class experience or a virtual demonstration of a CHM practice, such as:
- A guided meditation or mindfulness session.
- A short yoga or Tai Chi class.
- A demonstration of aromatherapy using essential oils.
- A workshop on the basics of herbal medicine and how herbs are used in traditional healing.
If the demonstration is in class, guide students through the experience
(e.g. a brief yoga session or a mindfulness practice).
After the activity, ask students to write or discuss:
- How did they feel during and after the practice?
- Do they believe the therapy could benefit people with certain conditions?
- What are the challenges in integrating these practices into modern healthcare?
- Did they notice any immediate benefits or drawbacks?
Design a survey that asks questions about people's experiences with and attitudes toward CHM.
- Some example questions could be:
- Have you ever used any form of complementary or alternative medicine?
- What type of CHM did you use (e.g. acupuncture, chiropractic, herbal medicine)?
- Why did you choose CHM over conventional medicine?
- How effective do you believe CHM therapies are for treating certain conditions?
- Have you ever experienced any adverse effects from using CHM?
